Poor Site Management, But Manufacturers Pay the Price? Solar Construction Chaos Demands Attention

Created on 05.26
It is truly regrettable to witness high-quality PV modules being mistreated right at construction sites.
On many solar project rooftops, casual and unregulated construction practices have become a hidden hazard that most people overlook. Workers often place PV modules randomly on-site without proper protection. Worse still, some operate on rooftops without safety ropes and any protective measures, exposing themselves to serious fall safety risks.
Reckless stepping and walking on PV modules leaves invisible micro-cracks and severe hot spots on the panels. These subtle damages do not show up immediately, but they gradually degrade module performance, eventually leading to partial or complete module failure.
The most unfair yet common industry reality is this:
When unstandardized construction causes module failure and even triggers PV plant fires, the construction team’s irregular operations are often overlooked. Instead, PV manufacturers are frequently the ones held accountable.
In most cases, manufacturers struggle to provide sufficient evidence to prove the defects are caused by on-site improper construction. As a result, solar component companies end up bearing unnecessary economic losses and reputational damage for sloppy on-site work that is completely out of their control.
This is a prominent pain point plaguing the solar industry.
A high-quality, long-life PV power plant is never achieved by qualified products alone. Strict full-process quality control and standardized operation are indispensable, covering every link from factory production and transportation to on-site installation and final completion.
Standard construction protects workers’ safety, preserves module performance, avoids hidden fire dangers, and safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of PV manufacturers.
For solar EPCs, construction teams, and asset owners: Standardized construction is not a formality—it is the bottom line of project safety, stable power generation, and sustainable asset value.
